Mission/Purpose
The program seeks to support expectant and new parents for the first three years of the child’s life, providing them with tools to be great parents. The program helps parents to work to achieve their hopes and dreams with their children. The program helps members find the improved quality of life they wish for as a parent.
Services
The program offers:
- A family manager who assesses needs and coordinates services
- Educational videos and books
- Opportunities to meet with other parents
- Developmental Screenings
- Parent Support Groups
- Parent Skills Groups
The program teaches parents to:
- Care for the baby and self
- Know what to expect as the baby grows
- Connect with community services
- Make the home safe for your baby
- Calm a crying baby
- Encourage the baby to learn
- Find medical care
- Recognize what the baby needs
Population Served
The program serves residents of the East District of the City of Richmond and the Southside of the City who are expectant mothers or fathers and parents with a child from zero to three years of age.
Fees
Services are free.
